MAKHACHKALA, October 5 – RIA "Dagestan". Dagestan
and Uzbekistan look to significantly boost their economic ties following a
high-level meeting between Dagestan’s Acting Deputy Prime Minister Rizvan
Gazimagomedov and Tashkent Mayor Shavkat Umurzakov on the sidelines of the
Russia-Uzbekistan Council of Regions. The parties agreed on optimizing trade corridors and
operationalizing joint economic initiatives. A primary focus was made on export
of Dagestani meat products to Uzbekistan, encompassing supply chain logistics,
cross-border settlements and B2B integration, culminating in an agreement to
designate focal points for expedited issue resolution. The agenda also featured discussions on drawing major
investments—with a nod to transparency—through partnerships with entities like
Tashkent Invest Company, alongside plans to collaborate on building materials.
Key priorities moving forward include supplying lamb and wool, setting up joint
manufacturing plants and advancing projects proposed by the Domalogika company.
The officials also explored investment opportunities
in Uzbekistan booming construction sector, the export of Dagestani ceramics and
porcelain stoneware and ways to grow bilateral tourism. Summing up the meeting, Gazimagomedov invited Uzbek
delegation to an upcoming digital forum in Dagestan to spark even more business
connections. A detailed roadmap with specific assignments will now be drawn up
to turn these discussions into actionable projects.
